The Mountain Bear brings wildlife and mountain scenery together in a deeply dimensional piece of handcrafted art. Ten individually cut layers build the complete scene, from the mountain peaks and forest in the distance to the bear emerging prominently from the landscape in front.
Each layer is individually finished before assembly. A rich mix of teals, blues, and greens creates depth throughout the mountains, sky, and forest, while a variety of warm browns gives definition to the bear's fur, face, and features. Dark accents throughout the design help define the intricate cut details and make each layer stand apart from the next.
At approximately 1.25 inches thick, the finished piece has a substantial relief-like profile. From the front, the ten layers come together to create one complete woodland scene. Look at it from the side and the construction becomes part of the artwork, revealing layer after layer of mountains, trees, leaves, and detailed fur.
A smooth, stable engineered wood was intentionally chosen for this design. Its consistent surface provides the precision needed for intricate cutting while creating a beautifully smooth base for the painted finish. Each completed layer is carefully aligned and assembled by hand to create the final scene.
The Mountain Bear is sealed with a UV-protective coating to help preserve its rich colors and finish. For the best longevity, we recommend displaying it indoors and away from prolonged exposure to the elements.
Two triangle hangers are securely installed on the back, so it arrives ready to bring a little of the outdoors into your home, cabin, office, or favorite space.
